A new representative business building to Minergie standard, UNO, is being built at Liestal railway station square by 2012. It is the first building block in the new district plan.
The six-storey striking building structure occupies the triangular plot between the station and the Baselland Cantonal Bank. Due to the plot area, a twisted, tapered-downward cube emerges, which in its material of dark, anthracite-colored concrete radiates robustness and stability at this dynamic location.
The main entrance to the central hall and to the retail spaces is oriented with a prominent shop window front towards the station square. From here, the shops on the ground floor and the upper floors are accessed. Through the recessed facade, a generous covered area is created for pedestrians and waiting bus passengers in front of the shop windows.
