St. Jakob Tower, Basel
The Tower
After approximately three years of construction, the overall project by architects Herzog & De Meuron – which includes the expansion of the sales areas of the St. Jakob-Park shopping center, an elevated platform for events, and the new construction of the Mercedes garage with showroom and workshop of Kestenholz Basel AG – was completed with the St. Jakob Tower.
The 71-meter-high tower stands like a city gate at the border of Basel. Its crystalline form, with almost no right angles in the floor plan, offers a striking and ever-changing view – depending on where in Basel the tower catches your eye. The St. Jakob Tower is divided into residential and office/service areas. The 37 apartments are located between the 5th and 17th floors. The building is topped by two maisonette apartments in the tower's peak. The apartments are mostly oriented toward the south and offer fantastic views. The lower and northern areas are exclusively reserved for offices and services.
