The school complex Gymnasium Ländtestrasse Biel was built between 1976 and 1982 by architect Max Schlup in the style of the Solothurn School. After 35 years of intensive use, the existing school complex will be comprehensively renovated and structurally adapted to the requirements of modern school operations.
Additionally, an extension building will be constructed. It will be built as an engineered timber construction in the energy-saving Minergie-P-Eco standard and will provide 25 modern equipped teaching spaces for the natural sciences on three levels in the future.
The construction costs amount to 86 million francs. The extension building will be constructed between July 2013 and February 2015. The renovations will be carried out from February 2014 to summer 2016.
