Starting in 2023, Gymnasium Thun with its specialized middle school will undergo comprehensive modernization and expansion to concentrate instruction at the Schadau location in the future. The project includes two new extension buildings, a double sports hall, and renovation of the main building. The goal is to increase the school's attractiveness, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The construction is based on the winning project "Focus" from a 2006 competition. With construction costs of CHF 77 million, the facility is scheduled to be operational by summer 2026.
