The SPO building of the Fluntern University Sports Facility was designed by E. R. Knupfer in the early 1970s and put into operation in 1974. Through its volumetry and materiality, this facility fits into the brutalist style. The Fluntern sports facility is very popular and is used intensively. In addition to the main user ASVZ, the facility also serves physical education for primary and cantonal schools. Furthermore, sports days and various sports events take place at the facility. Due to the increasing importance of sport and fitness as leisure activities, an increase in user numbers is to be expected. The electrical installations are being partially completely updated. The main and sub-distribution boards are being replaced. The lighting is being replaced within the work area and adjusted or supplemented in the immediate vicinity of the building. The requirements are designed according to UZH specifications. On the roof surface of the residential / physiotherapy section, a new photovoltaic system is being installed to supplement the existing PV system. With a south-west orientation of the new system, a better distribution of power throughout the day is achieved. The inverters are to be mounted on the roof. The building is being upgraded according to current fire protection guidelines.
