Transit warehouse - in the Dreispitz area
The former warehouse building was one of the first buildings in the Dreispitz, where in addition to work spaces, 103 apartments were also created (residential share approx. 55%). The design by the Danish architecture firm BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) emerged as the winning project from an invited competition. The existing four-storey reinforced concrete structure was expanded with a three-storey lightweight construction containing only apartments. The extension appears in an architecturally remarkable zigzag form. The second and third floors of the existing building are primarily intended for modern living spaces, studios and offices. The first upper floor contains flexible office and commercial uses, and the ground floor contains commercial uses and gastronomy. The commercial spaces were occupied in autumn 2015. The apartments were ready for occupancy in spring 2016.
