The comprehensive renovation and extension of the Aarberg Secondary School Centre (OSZ) on Bürenstrasse modernizes the existing school complex from the 1950s and 1980s thoroughly. The architecture breaks up the large structures through a two-storey, narrow and finely articulated timber new building that is oriented landscapically towards the river space of the Alte Aare. Technically, the project combines the energetic renewal of the classroom wing with modern split-level entrance areas, canopies as weather protection and flexible spatial units for contemporary teaching methods.
