The complete renovation of the Grabengut ice sports centre in Thun begins in spring 2025 and will be carried out in two construction phases until the end of 2026. The project includes the modernization of the artificial ice rink and curling hall as well as the replacement of outdated building systems. Architecturally, a translucent polycarbonate façade characterizes the appearance, reminiscent of ice surfaces while providing thermal, light and sound protection. Technically, the centre relies on energy-efficient insulation, modern ice technology and sustainable building systems. The total costs amount to 28.5 million Swiss francs.
