UNDER MONUMENT PROTECTION: HAUS ZUR ALLMEND
Former inn, today a multi-family house with 3 apartments
The foundations of the former farmhouse were built in 1750
and in 1904, after a fire, were reconstructed by the renowned architect
Jacques Gros into a residential building with pension and inn.
After approximately a hundred years of use, the intended gentle
renovation could no longer ensure the preservation of the building
substance; major interventions became necessary.
The apartments were modernized, the building systems completely
renovated, and the building retrofitted as much as possible with
ecological thermal insulation. Existing, intact structural elements
were secured and reinstalled; the surface treatment followed
monument preservation principles. Missing elements were newly
interpreted, partly combined with old components. The goal was to
maintain the character of the very harmonious building complex.
