In September 2001, the new Haus Konstruktiv of the Foundation for Constructive and Concrete Art opened in Zurich. The building served the Electricity Works of the City of Zurich (EWZ) as a transformer station for around one hundred years. Between 1929 and 1932, the distinctive complex was redesigned by the then city master builder Hermann Herter in the style of the New Building movement. The character of the former industrial building had to be reconciled with the ideas for the conversion. The client's requirements for the architectural team Bruno Mürner and Saskia Frater as well as the Basel architect Roger Diener (Diener & Diener) were: A house in the sense of the "White Cube", simple, bright and pure with a varied sequence of spaces and uncomplicated logistics.
