Schulhaus Rebacker

The school building complex in Herrliberg is characterized by school structures that were built over several decades. In particular, the existing Schulhaus Rebacker, which was built according to the plans of architect Hans von Meyenburg and put into operation in 1966, forms the immediate neighborhood to the new building. The expansion continues the three-dimensional sculpture of the complex from the 1960s while taking into account the topographic conditions and connects the new building with the existing school building. Despite the independence of the new building, a new whole is created that is formed by the existing complex and the intervention. This intention is further reinforced by the construction of a retaining wall that relates to the new building. Through the interventions of the new building, the external spatial situation is clarified, the sports area and school area are separated from each other.
