The Oele multi-family residential building at Eichholzstrasse 5 in 6312 Steinhausen is part of the Oele development, an innovative housing project by the Steinhausen Housing Cooperative (WBG) in collaboration with the Municipality of Steinhausen. The building is a compact timber construction with a reinforced concrete core. The façade consists of spruce boards treated with wood oil to ensure durability. The building comprises 25 apartments ranging from 1.5 to 5.5 rooms. The apartments are organized by floors, with the larger units (5.5 rooms) located on the upper floors. On the ground floor are two daycare centers (operated by KiBiZ Zug) and a common room. The timber construction meets the «Swiss Wood» label and uses a timber-concrete composite structure for the ceilings, combined with fire protection measures. A photovoltaic system and ecological materials underscore the sustainable approach.
