Large quantities of leachate are generated at the landfill, which are cleaned via clarification basins, fixed-bed filters and a special vacuum evaporation process. The landfill gas is used in a combined heat and power plant (CHP) to generate heat and electricity. These primarily serve to operate the facilities.
