After completing their architecture diplomas simultaneously in 1975 at ETH Zurich and working there as assistants, Herzog and de Meuron founded their office in Basel, Rheinschanze 6, in 1978. In addition to this headquarters, they now also have branch offices in London, Munich, Barcelona, San Francisco, and Tokyo. Overall, the company employs 330 employees. De Meuron and Herzog both teach at ETH Zurich and Harvard University.
