The Talwiesen Binz urban settlement is part of the up-and-coming Zurich-South district, at the foot of the Üetliberg. On the 55-hectare workshop site of the former construction company Heinrich Hatt-Haller, a development with a total of 362 apartments is being built. The project, which resulted from an architectural competition, has been realized in three phases since 2001. By the end of 2004, the 145 rental apartments of the first phase were completed, and in October 2005, the 108 rental apartments and 36 owner-occupied apartments of the second phase were moved into.
The high proportion of residential space is complemented by a wealth of services such as kindergarten, after-school care, neighborhood shops, medical practices and offices.
