The structures of the Leibstadt Nuclear Power Plant (KKL) underwent thorough treatment in 2004. The project, with total costs of six million Swiss francs, included the renewal of roofs as well as the treatment of joints, corrosion protection coatings and over 40,000 square meters of exposed concrete surfaces. The appearance changed markedly from "blue" to "mint". Additionally, the south facade of the machine house received a new design element.

The joints on the structures were renewed, the windows repaired and the corrosion protection revised. On the reinforced concrete, damage was repaired locally, the weathered cement skin was restored with pore filler, and the surface was equipped with hydrophobic treatment and silicone resin paint coating to make it highly water and dirt repellent.
