At Berufsschulstrasse in Uster, the Kantonsschule Uster and the vocational school were rebuilt and expanded. In addition, a temporary facility was created. Construction began in July 2015 and ended in summer 2019. The renovation and expansion of the Uster Education Centre created a shared location for three strong schools - the Kantonsschule Uster, the Vocational School Uster and the Higher Vocational School Uster. In total, the new building of Kantonsschule Uster covers approximately 20,500 square meters. The areas of auditorium, cafeteria, media library, natural sciences and sports halls are shared. Despite these synergies, each school remains independent and fulfills its specific educational mission. The new building was constructed according to the Minergie-Eco standard. The innovative thermal building technology concept with dynamic ground storage is based entirely on the use of renewable energies. After a three-year construction period, the three schools started operating in the new Uster Education Centre in early March 2019.
