A former industrial area comes to life anew

The approximately 50,000 m² industrial area is located in the middle of the village of Freienstein. Due to its slightly lower location directly on the Töss and its large industrial buildings, it forms its own district with an industrial-urban character.

Since operations ceased in 1990, all buildings except the high-rise building in the center of the spinning mill have been continuously repurposed. This created production and logistics spaces, offices, studios, but also a cinema and a dance school.

In the current phase of new use, a large square is being created with a bocce court, water feature and more, which invites people to linger and chat with neighbors. The previously unused high-rise building is being completely renovated. 28 lofts are being created that invite people to live and work.

Many of the historic buildings are under monument protection. This ensures that in the future the area will retain its idyllic character from the industrial era of the past.
