The Olten-Aarau route is a bottleneck. Between Däniken and Wöschnau, one of Switzerland's busiest railway axes narrows from four to two tracks. The federal government and SBB want to eliminate this bottleneck by the end of 2020 with the four-track expansion of the Olten-Aarau line. The centerpiece - the two-track Eppenbergtunnel, three kilometers long.
