In 1999, the municipality of Horgen launched a multi-stage competition with the aim of solving traffic problems in the center of Horgen. In order to create design flexibility, the project perimeter was defined on a large scale. In addition to Bahnhofstrasse, it included in particular Seestrasse in the center over a length of approximately 400m.
