A railway structure becomes a meeting place
Here in the Spickel, where the Letten and Wipfinger viaducts branch off, the city of Zurich's first market hall is being created. In addition, 36 viaduct arches are being developed and rented out.
The Arches
The supporting structure of the viaducts consists of countless stone arches. 36 of them will be developed in the simplest possible style in accordance with building regulations. The rough stone façades of the ground remain visible from the inside as well. The arches continue to carry railway and path routes, and life develops underneath: flower shops, wood workshops and cafés, art forges, tailors and daycare centers, graphic design offices and painting studios are welcome as tenants - not fancy boutiques or styled galleries and bars, but useful offerings for the neighborhood
