A modern residential and commercial building with a basement and five above-ground floors is being constructed at Regensbergstrasse 175 in Zurich. The replacement new building will be built using reinforced concrete and masonry construction methods. A central challenge is earthquake safety, as masonry walls are particularly vulnerable due to their stiffness and brittleness. As part of the planning process, a comprehensive seismic analysis is carried out. This includes optimization of the load-bearing structure, dynamic analyses, and the design of reinforced concrete walls to effectively absorb horizontal loads and ensure safety.
