The new community center establishes a new focal point in the village center of Uetikon. It creates a new spatial boundary towards Bergstrasse and defines a large plaza that mediates between the school buildings Mitte, Rossweid, and Kirchbühl. The architecture is impressive yet restrained, functionally simple, and adapts to the village scale. The building volume is densely arranged in three simple elements: a central hall serving as a communication zone with clear internal circulation and an attractive staircase, and two angled wings constructed in wood, containing offices and auxiliary rooms.
The building is constructed according to Minergie-ECO guidelines. The attached underground parking with 57 spaces complements the overall complex.
