The Altweg school swimming facility, built in the early 1970s, is in a partially dilapidated condition. The renovation includes a careful approach to the existing building fabric from architectural, operational, building-technical, and ecological perspectives. The existing room layout and current operational concept remain essentially unchanged. The lighting, room acoustics, and reverberation time do not meet today's requirements and need to be renewed. In the electrical area, the energy technology is being renewed. Essentially, the swimming pool, the movable floor, and the entire interior finishing – surfaces, changing rooms, wet rooms, technical spaces, etc. – are being renovated. The ground floor chemical storage is being adapted to meet current needs and regulations. To improve room acoustics, sound-absorbing panels that simultaneously accommodate lighting and ventilation are being installed between the beams. This concentrated measure in the ceiling area enables optimization of the requirements described above while maintaining the spatial and structural overall appearance of the swimming hall. The work will be carried out during ongoing school operations.
